Deputy Speaker and 1-Pacman party-list Rep. Mikee Romero on Saturday revealed that airline companies are set to launch their respective local promotion campaigns to give Filipinos the chance to “see the world in the Philippines” notwithstanding the Covid-19 threat.
Romero, majority owner of Air Asia, said the company fully supports President Rodrigo Duterte’s call for a boost to local tourism which faces adverse effects of Covid-19.
The president of the Partylist Coalition Foundation Inc. said Air Asia alone has already unraveled its fare promotions in time for the summer.
“We want Filipinos to enjoy and see the world right here in the Philippines. It’s the safest and healthiest way to go places,” he said.
Big airfare discounts are expected to be offered for the next three to six months.
Romero said resorts, hotels and the rest of the tourism stakeholders have also been asked to participate in the campaign to boost local tourism.
Air Asia was quick to the draw by offering 22 percent discount during a booking period that will cover February 17 to 23. Travel period for the promotion will be from February 24 to September 30, 2020.
