Romualdez on Lacson’s allegation: ‘Nobody seems to know where that’s coming from’
House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez on Tuesday said he and his colleagues had no idea where Senator Ping Lacson got his information about P1.5 billion in pork allocations for 22 deputy speakers and P700 million for each of the 300 congressmen.
“Actually, nalilito rin kami, kasi hindi namin alam kung saan galing yan,” the Leyte representative told a press briefing.
On Monday, Lacson accused the House of planning to give P1.5 billion worth of projects to each of the 22 deputy speakers, and P700 to each of the 300 congressmen in the 2020 budget proposal.
He said the unvalidated information came from several House members themselves.
“Nobody seems to know where he’s coming from… But it would be helpful if the senator could help us ferret out truth and get to the bottom of this,” Romualdez said.
“As of this period, we don’t know where that’s coming from, if it has basis or if it’s founded on facts,” he said.
Romualdez said he was shocked by Lacson’s allegations.
“Nonetheless, nagulat kami pero I hope naman may basehan kasi if theres truth to that we want to get to the bottom of that because the policy of the Speaker is no pork no parking di ba?” he said.
