President Rodrigo Duterte will not speak to the nation this week, his spokesman said Wednesday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that Duterte’s public address has been postponed to next week.
“No talk to the people. Next week na,” he said via SMS.
In a separate message, Roque said the President will not deliver his weekly Talk to the People due to the rising number of active Covid-19 cases.
“The physical safety of the President remains our utmost concern… The preparation for the Talk to the People Address entails a number of staff complement and we also take due consideration of their well-being,” he added.
Duterte was last seen in public on March 29 during the arrival of China’s Covid-19 vaccine CoronaVac doses bought by the government in Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.
