Malacañang has advised the European parliamentarian deported from the Philippines to try blocking bombs in Syria as an expression of his socialist belief.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Wednesday (April 18) stood by the decision to bar Giacomo Filibeck, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Party of European Socialists, from entering the country to attend a conference by Akbayan party-list in Cebu.
In a radio interview, Roque said countries have the freedom to allow or bar the entry of foreigners.
Hindi!” he said.
Roque, who used to be a law professor before entering politics, said even foreigners should follow a country’s laws.
Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said Filibeck was blacklisted because he violated the conditions of his stay as a tourist when he came to the Philippines last year.
