One snappy salute.

A cloud of grief has settled over the politiko world following the death of Metro Manila Development Authority chair Danny Lim.

Lim, retired former Army Scout Ranger general, died Wednesday at the age of 65, and many politikos are heartbroken by the sudden loss.

From former Vice President Jojo Binay to former lawmakers, politikos took to social media to express grief over the demise of Lim. Others have also paid touching tribute to the revered public servant.

In a Facebook post, Binay extended his condolences to the family of Lim.

“Isang taos-pusong pakikiramay sa pamilya at mga kaibigan ni dating MMDA Chairman Danny Lim. Kasama ang aking pamilya, ipinagdarasal namin na bigyan kayo ng Panginoon ng lakas sa gitna ng inyong pagdadalamhati. Salamat sa ilang dekada ng serbisyo para sa bayan, Chairman Danny,” Binay said.

Senate President Tito Sotto said Lim was “a very worthy noble brother” and would “create a vacuum in the corridors of noble men.”

“I am just consoled that he will now rest with the Great Architect Of The Universe! Rest in Peace Worthy Brother,” Sotto tweeted.

Senator Risa Hontiveros also mourned the death of Lim, saying she fought alongside him in many political battles.

“I was fortunate enough to have fought beside Gen Danny in many battles in Philippine politics. May his family be comforted by everyone’s heartfelt support. Condolences, prayers & tight hugs to Rep Aloy & Aika,” she said.

Senator Bong Revilla also offered his sympathies over the passing of Lim. He said Lim was an exemplary public servant.

“Pinaabot po namin ang aming pakikiramay at panalangin sa pamilya ng yumaong MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim. Tunay na di matatawaran ang paglilingkod sa bayan ni Chairman Lim, mula pa noong mga taon niya bilang sundalo, opisyal ng pamahalaan, at lalong-lalo na ang kanyang mahusay na pamumuno sa MMDA ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” Revilla said.

Former Interior and Local Government Secretary Raffy Alunan is also saddened by the passing of Lim. He said he shared “unforgettable historic and brotherhood moments” with Lim through the years.

“Every now and then, government and society encounter a fearless public servant imbued with the proper values, character and skills in their midst. Danny Lim was that kind of a person who wore the flag on his sleeve,” he said.

“I join the Scout Ranger family in extending my condolences to his immediate family and the West Point alumni; and to express my gratitude for the countless sacrifices he bore for the country and the Filipino people. Mabuhay ka Gen. Danny Lim. You died with your boots on,” he added.
