Salceda: Cayetano has ushered in new HOR — House of Reforms
Albay Rep. Joey Salceda on Friday congratulated Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano for his high approval and trust ratings in the latest Social Weather Stations survey.
“This shows that the public appreciates what the leadership and collective membership of the House of Representatives achieved in less than 3 months,” the chairman of the House committee on ways and means said.
He identified three reasons for Cayetano’s high numbers:
1. The House approved the 2020 national budget in just one month from receipt
2. Reform measures such as Alcohol and Vape Tax, CITIRA, PIFITA FIA, Retal Trade Liberalisation have been approved.
3. New initiatives supportive of the national agenda are being initiated and pursued in earnest in the House and are amply vying for national support. This includes nonSONA Pogo tax, MVRUT, mining tax and SONA mandates – OFWs, Water and DDR.
“The Speaker’s high ratings should be read simply as a mandate for reforms,” Salceda said.
In particular, he added, the Speaker and the House leadership have effectively communicated to its constituencies its positive contribution to nation building.
“The House through its committees and leaders are committed to step up to this new era of HOR — the house of reforms,” he said.
