President Rodrigo Duterte’s message to his allies in the House of Representatives was basically: “Hindi na lang ako pupunta kung magulo kayo,” according to Albay Rep. Joey Salceda.

“So nag-behave kami,” he said on Monday, adding that he didn’t expect any fireworks in the election of Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano as the next Speaker of the House.

“So there were of course a lot of the other so called Duterte Davao group are basically in contact sila Bong Go, I think basically the message is sabi ng presidente di na lang ako pupunta pag magulo kayo,” Salceda said.

He said Duterte didn’t want a repeat of last year’s drama involving the coup staged by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo against then Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

“Kasi ayaw nyang maulit yung nangyari last year kasi halos hindi alam kung sino ang sasama kay Presidente,” Salceda said.

“Pagdating kasi dun, talagang it dawned upon many na talagang kailangang masunod ang Presidente kasi hindi naman nagbago yung express wish ng Presidente recommending Alan Peter as the next Speaker,” he said.
