Saling-pusa lang! Cardema a ‘mere observer’ in party-list coalition, Romero tells Guanzon
By JOHN CARLO M. CAHINHINAN
1Pacman Party-list Rep. Mikee Romero said former National Youth Commission (NYC) chair and disqualified Duterte Youth Party-list first nominee Ronald Caderma is not a bonafide member of the Party-list Coalition Foundation, Inc. (PCFI).
Romero made the statement after he was called out by Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon upon learning that Cardema continues to attend the meetings of PCFI even though he has been disqualified by the poll body.
“Cardema was invited by PCFI on few occasions as a ‘mere observer’ of the Duterte Youth Party-list and not as an official Representative of the 18th Congress,” said Romero.
Romero said PCFI is respecting the decision of the poll body with regards to the disqualification of the controversial former NYC chair.
Despite his disqualification, Cardema’s name was once again included in the new list of nominees filed last week by Duterte Youth—being its first nominee anew.
Guanzon earlier got irked over reports that Cardema continues to attend PCFI-sponsored events despite his disqualification.
Romero clarified that it’s only the Duterte Youth which is recognized by PCFI and not Cardema.
“PCFI has recognized Duterte Youth as a party-list who won a seat in the May 13 elections,” he said.
He said Cardema “has not been recognized by PCFI” due to lack of supporting documents—COMELEC Certificate of Proclamation and Oath of Office.
