Sana all! Prosecutor General hopes Marshal Service bills will benefit fiscals
Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento expressed hope that bills creating the Philippine Marshal Service would also include the protection of state prosecutors.
“Kami ang nasa forefront,” said Malcontento.
“So we have to be safeguarded as well,” he pointed out.
The bills were filed in response to calls of Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta that the judiciary be allowed its own security unit similar to the United States Marshal Service.
“We hope that congress would help us,” Peralta earlier called to address the killings of judges
Peralta had lamented that the judiciary still relies on the Philippine National Police (PNP) in protecting magistrates and in investigating the killings of judges.
“There has not been positive results on the outcome of the investigation on killing of judges,” he pointed out.
