Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said she supports the proposal of the Armed Forces of the Philippine to exclude the cities of Davao and Cagayan de Oro for limited continuation of martial law in the region.
Duterte made the statement after AFP Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Cirilo Sobejana has proposed a selective implementation of martial law which will focus mostly on the Bangsamoro Region.
“Kung excluded na ang Davao city, ok ako diyan,” said Mayor Duterte in a text message to Abante/Politiko.
The Presidential daughter said they are preparing another request letter to AFP to exclude Davao City from the Martial Law declaration, citing additional reasons which she didn’t further elaborate.
Last August, Mayor Duterte stressed she’s in favor to spare Davao City and the Island Garden City of Samal from the Martial Law rule after several foreign chambers of commerce voice out the concern of prospective investors over the higher cost of doing business when an area is under a military rule.
