Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has cried tears of joy after the people of Davao delivered a 12-0 vote for Hugpong ng Pagbabago senatorial ticket in the last midterm elections.

In return, Duterte, who will serve another term after scoring a landslide victory in the mayoralty race, vowed to serve her constituents “until I break.”

“I am humbled as I bow. I am not a person who cries easily but when it was definite that Davao City delivered a 12-0 vote for Senators of HNP, the tears flowed and the sobbing followed,” she said in an Instagram post.

Mayor Sara, chair of the Hugpong regional party who campaigned for the senatorial bets across the country, said the 12-0 sweep of Hugpong was “a first in our City’s history.”

“Daghang Salamat sa inyong tanan. I have said that I feel alone everyday stressing over making sure Davao City is ok but when I need am in distress, Dabawenyos carry me on their backs,” she said.

“Sa tanan kalisod, baha, bagyo ug kani nga election sa senador wala gyud ko ninyo gibiyaan. Gahilak ko nagsulat ani, salamat sa inyo. I promise to work harder until I break. I love you all. #DavaoCity #LifeisHere,” she added.
