MUNICIPALITY OF LILOAN, Cebu – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte admitted that never in her wildest dream that she will become the country’s future president.

Duterte issued the statement after the groundbreaking ceremony of the P1-billion Liloan Port project along Barangay Poblacion in Liloan, Cebu.

“That’s (presidency is) not my ambition,” the presidential daughter said.

Duterte, chairperson of Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) party, has been often introduced during the campaign sorties as the person who will most likely succeed her father President Rodrigo Duterte in 2022.

Reelectionist Mandaue City Mayor Luigi Quisumbing introduced Mayor Sara as the next president of the Philippines during the kick-off of HNP’s two-day Cebu caravan last Thursday.

During the early weeks of the campaign trail, the Davao City mayor admitted that she was on a a spiritual journey to give herself enough time to decide over the fate and future of her political career.

Last February 18, Duterte explained she was still undecided on whether or not to seek a national elective post in 2022. But she gave herself a deadline until January 2021 to decide on her political future.

“Depende sa circumstances. Siguro gawa nalang tayo ng deadline on January 2021,” said Mayor Duterte.
