Sarcastic lang: At 64, Edu Manzano asks if he can be Duterte Youth party-list nominee

(UPDATED) Forever young.

Former Makati Vice Mayor Edu Manzano is wondering if he can become a nominee of the Duterte Youth Party-list group if former National Youth Commission chair Ronald Cardema is allowed to represent the group.

“If the en banc reverses Comm. Guanzon does that mean I can run at 64 in the next elections under Duterte Youth Partylist?” Manzano tweeted in a sarcastic tone.

Manzano, who ran but lost in the San Juan congressional race last May, is 64 years old while Cardema is aged 34. The law states that a nominee of the youth sector must at least be 25 but not more than 30 years of age on the day of the election.

The Commission on Elections’ First Division recently rejected the nomination of Cardema as youth party-list representative because he exceeded the age requirement. The decision is under appeal by the
Cardema camp.

After his tweet drew some comments, Manzano said his statement was made with sarcasm, and asked people to stop sending him legal opinions.

“To those who have been sending me different legal opinions, you can now stop as my comment about running for Youth Partylist at age 64 was a venture into ‘SARCASM’ Jusko naman!!!” he tweeted.
