Two more justices of the Supreme Court are set to appear before the House Committee on Justice to testify regarding the impeachment case against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Justice committee chairman Rep. Reynaldo Umali said Associate Justice Noel Tijam and retired Associate Justice Arturo Brion have confirmed their attendance for the December 11 hearing.

Only Associate Justice Teresita de Castro appeared before the committee today, which Majority Leader Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas said was precedent setting.

Umali confirmed that De Castro is set to make another appearance before the justice committee to continue her testimony on matters within the High Court.

The lawmaker also said that with the justices requesting to appear before the committee at a later date, they might not be able to meet their self-imposed deadline of taking the impeachment to the plenary by December 13.

The House justice committee are still deliberating on whether there is probable cause to impeach the Chief Justice, who is facing 27 allegations including supposed tampering of a temporary restraining order and the dubious re-opening of a Regional Court Administration Office in Region VII.
