Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta advised the public that all court submissions have been suspended during the duration of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

“The reglementary pperiods for the filing of petitions, appeals, complaints, motions, pleadings and other court submissions before the courts shall be suspended from 4 to 18 August 2020, and shall resume on 19 August 2020, without prejudice to those who have already filed such pleadings and documents within their reglementary periods,” read the circular of Peralta.

“In the same manner, the periods for court actions with prescribed periods are likewise suspended, and shall resume 19 August 2020,” he added.

On Sunday night (Aug. 2), President Rodrigo Duterte announced the have Metro Manila and the provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan placed under MECQ again.

Duterte heeded the call of frontliners who sought to impose stricter quarantine measures due to rising number of COVID-19 disease cases.
