The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday (Feb. 18) issued an order directing ABS-CBN network to comment on the motion of Solicitor General Jose Calida Lacson asks SC to exclude Senate in gag order concerning the quo warranto petition.
SC Spokesman Brian Hosaka said the SC en banc gave the directive after receiving Calida’s motion on Tuesday morning.
“In accordance with the due process of the law, the SC has ordered the respondents ABS-CBN Corp. and ABS-CBN Covergence Inc. to file their respective comments to the motion filed by the Office of the Solicitor General within a non-extendible period of five days from receipt of notice,” he told reporters.
Once the comment has been filed, Hosaka said the high court might issue a ruling on Calida’s motion for the issuance of a gag order on Feb. 26.
Calida filed the quo warranto petition before the SC to revoke the legislative franchise of the network due to alleged violations committed by ABS-CBN.
He also sought gag order as he accused the network of engaging in propaganda that would influence the magistrates to rule in favor of ABS-CBN.
