Self promotion ang peg! PCOO Usec Badoy hit for using PNA ‘praise release’
Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy has come under fire for using the Philippine News Agency to promote herself.
In a Facebook post Wednesday (October 17), abogado Trixie Cruz Angeles slammed the publication of the PNA article titled, “PCOO exec wants age limit for statutory rape raised.”
The article, posted October 11, quoted Badoy extensively on the need to raise the age limit for statutory rape for the children’s benefit.
Angeles questioned why Badoy became the resource person for the article when she falsely claimed that child victims do not need to testify in statutory rape cases.
“So ano ito? Kinukuha ba ng PNA yung opinyon ni Badoy sa statutory rape? At kung sakali, bakit? Hindi eksperto si Badoy. Maliwanag ito sa dami ng pagkakamali ng opinyon nya tunkol sa pag prosecute ng rape,” the abogado said.
Angeles said there was no reason for Badoy’s opinion on the matter to be sought since the Presidential Communications Operations Office has no project on statutory rape.
“Sa opinyon ko, PRAISE RELEASE ni Badoy ito at ginagamit nya ang resources ng gobyerno para sa sariling internet reputation management. Ang internet reputation management, by the way, ay isang paraan para mag clean up ng image ng isang taong di kanais nais ang imahen online,” she said.
Badoy was reportedly one of the PCOO officials who wanted former Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson booted out of the agency.
