Senate banks committee to probe BPI, BDO fiasco on June 21 – Escudero

The Senate committee on banks will investigate on June 21 the series of ATM glitches suffered by Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and Banco de Oro that have caused concerns among its millions of depositors.

Senator and committee chair Chiz Escudero on Friday (June 16) immediately responded to the call of Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III to look into rush the probe on BPI after BDO also suffered the same computer malfunctions that caused havoc on bank records of clients.

“Given the BDO reported incidents, I am constrained to call for a hearing on June 21 on these matters ( including BPI) in order to appraise the public of what is going on and to placate speculations on this issue that may negatively impinge upon or affect the banking sector as a whole,” he said.
