Senate version of 2018 budget is ‘fulfillment’ of Duterte’s promises to the people–Pimentel
The Senate version of the proposed P3.7 trillion 2018 national budget is a “fulfillment” of President Rodrigo Duterte’s promises to uplift the welfare of Filipinos.
Senate President Koko Pimentel made the remark after the upper chamber passed on third and final reading House Bill 6215 or the 2018 General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
Asked to describe the 2018 budget, Pimentel said, “Ano ito, Build, Build, Build and it’s (for) military modernization. Priorities talaga (ang mga) ito.”
“We are now focusing on the military–giving them importance. And at the same time not forgetting health and education. So, ano ito promises fulfilled,” Pimentel said in a chance interview.
The Senate chief assigned Senators Loren Legarda, Ralph Recto, Frank Drilon, Sonny Angara, Nancy Binay, JV Ejercito, Ping Lacson, Cynthia Villar, and Migz Zubiri to the bicameral conference committee to iron out conflicting provisions on the Senate and House of Representatives’ versions of the 2018 budget measure.
