Senator or Davao gov? Bato waiting for Duterte’s order for 2019 polls

Former Philippine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is set to run in the 2019 elections, though the position is still unsure.

Politiko’s source said Dela Rosa is still awaiting Duterte’s decision on whether he should run for senator or as governor of Davao Del Sur.

The former PNP chief, who’s now at the helm of the Bureau of Corrections, is hesitant to announce his political plans yet because his preferred post might not be what Duterte has in mind for him.

Dela Rosa has a good chance of becoming a senator based on the results of the Social Weather Stations latest survey on the 2019 polls, which showed him between the 8th and 15th place if the elections were done in March.

In case the former PNP chief decides to run for governor, his victory is practically certain since incumbent Davao Del Sur Governor Douglas Cagas will not vie for the post if he were the opponent.
