Session suspended! Senate on 2-week lockdown until August 19
The Senate building in Pasay City will be placed on a two-week lockdown starting Tuesday (August 4) as senators heeded the plea of medical workers for Metro Manila to be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) again.
The Senate session is suspended until 3 p.m. of August 19, though Senate President Vicente Sotto III can call for its earlier resumption anytime, if a need arises.
All senators have supported the proposal for the Senate to be locked down for two weeks in response to health workers’ call for a “time out.”
Despite the suspension of session, Sotto said the hearing Tuesday (August 4) on the alleged anomalies in the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) will proceed.
“Medyo may pagka-hybrid pero less on the physical presence as far as employees are concerned. Wala na ‘yung employees na iba, ‘yun lang concerned doon sa hearing and then very limited, skeleton din,” he said.
