Shock and joy on guilty Imelda’s! Etta Rosales can’t believe Sandiganbayan will rule against Duterte’s allies
Former Commission on Human Rights chairperson Etta Rosales was in ecstacy after the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division found former First Lady Imelda Marcos guilty of seven counts of graft.
“I am jumping up and down in joy! I’m so happy! Can you imagine our long struggle… our years of hard hard work… we were close to giving up,” said Rosales in an interview with ANC shortly after the Fifth Division handed down its verdict.
Rosales bared that she never thought Marcos and her family would get an adverse ruling under the term of President Rodrigo Duterte who has never been shy about his praise for the former President Ferdinand Marcos (who was finally allowed to get his hero’s burial in Duterte’s first four months in office) and his closeness to his children – losing vice presidential bet Bongbong and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee.
“Of course I was surprised, I couldn’t believe it! I’m so pleasantly surprised that it gave me hope that there are good men and women in the Sandiganbayan and government who will continue to seek out the truth,” said Rosales.
