MANILA – Less than a week after hosting a thanksgiving buffet for more than 5,000 people in her hometown, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s 41st birthday celebration continues as she went to Singapore for a private party with Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco and wife Wen.
In a post by Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) media bureau chief Jefry Tupas, it can be seen that the Mayor Duterte and the Velasco couple were sharing light moments while people beside them were singing a traditional birthday song for the President’s daughter.
The private dinner took place at the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort in Sentosa Island, Singapore. No further details on the video were posted by Tupas.
The Davao City mayor and the Velasco couple also held a private lunch meeting last May 21 in EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City, wherein the President’s daughter supposedly sealed an early pact to endorse the Marinduque solon the next Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 18th Congress which would open in July.
House Deputy Speaker Sharon Garin (AAMBIS-OWA Party-list) said the 54-man Party-list Coalition would consult Mayor Duterte if her father President Rodrigo Duterte would remain neutral and not endorse any candidate in the highly-contested battle for the House leadership.
Garin said Mayor Duterte’s role was “vital in the equation” if the chief executive is firm with his pronouncement that he will not meddle in selecting the next leader of the House of Representatives.
1-Pacman Party-list Rep. Mikee Romero, president of the Party-list Coalition Foundation, Inc. (PCFI) stressed that the Davao City mayor was “the closest to the principal” and would be able to shed light to their members in the event that the chief executive decides not to participate in the selection of the next House leader.
