Singko na Dos por Dos? DZMM’s Anthony Taberna, Gerry Baja eye TV5 switch
Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja, hosts of DZMM’s “Dos Por Dos” news commentary program, may soon be broadcasting from TV5’s studios in Mandaluyong City.
Politiko learned that Taberna and Baja are considering TV5 as their new home after ABS-CBN’s franchise application was denied.
ABS-CBN’s lack of franchise means DZMM cannot broadcast through its 630 AM frequency. Its programs can only be watched through the Teleradyo channel on cable and online.
The network is set to lay off up to 90 percent of its workforce as it downsizes operations. Among the affected departments is its AM broadcasting division.
Katherine De Castro, a board director at state run PTV-4, is also reportedly interested in hiring Taberna and Baja, but the two appear to be keener in joining TV5.
Aside from the “Dos Por Dos” hosts, DZMM host Vic Lima is also said to be considering a switch to TV5 but is also open to joining radio stations RMN and DWIZ.
Ted Failon and Noli De Castro, who host ABS-CBN’s flagship newscast TV Patrol apart from DZMM shows, will stay with the network.
The two, however, have agreed to cut their salaries in half as ABS-CBN struggles to stay afloat without a franchise.
