Unless something drastic occurs, the current controversy involving shenanigans at the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) will just be another waiting game for the mafia behind the corruption there.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Friday the core group behind the corruption has been used to doing this, lying low for a while and returning when public attention is no longer on PhilHealth.
“Parang (ang laro ng sindikato), sinong maunang mapagod, parang ganoon. E sila, sige mag-imbestiga kayo ng mag-imbestiga makakalimutan yan after 1 month. Kami tuloy lang kami siguro mag-lie low lang kami 2 buwan. Pag nakalimutan ng tao, eto na naman kami,” he said in an interview on DZAR radio.
The Senate is currently looking into incidents of corruption at PhilHealth, including the doctoring of financial statements, overpriced IT procurements, and questionable implementation of its Interim Reimbursement Mechanism.
