So absurd! BuCor released 17 convicts a day under Faeldon – Nograles

The Bureau of Corrections (Boc) has released 3,566 convicted inmates from prisons across the country at the start of the year under the leadership of dismissed Director General Nicanor Faeldon, PBA Party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles revealed.
Of the 3,566 convicted inmates released under Faeldon, a total of 816 of them were found guilty for committing heinous crimes.
“Supposing that there is 200 working in 2019 so far, that’s a release rate of 17.83 convicts per working day. If then you divide that by eight hours in a working day, it come out that 2.2 convicts released per hour or approximately one convict release every 30 minute,” Nograles said in an interview with the CNN Philippines.
Nograles stressed that BuCor’s action under Faeldon was “so absurd.”
“That’s already a slap on the face of justice,” he said.
Nograles urged anew the BuCor to publish the names of convicts erroneously released convicts under GCTA and provide the DOJ and the DILG of copies so that authorities will be aware of who may be subject to warrantless arrests.
Davao Penal Colony chief Superintendent Melencio Faustino last Tuesday told members of the House Committee on Justice that Faeldon has directed all heads of BuCor facilities not to submit to DOJ the GCTA records of heinous crime inmates who availed the said program under Republic Act No. 10592.
“Yes, your honor, we are remiss of our duty to transmit. Our director general ordered us not to transmit to anyone,” said Faustino.
