Sobrang laki ng ulo! Alvarez told Duterte he wanted to be Prime Minister and the President got pissed – source

Speaker Bebot Alvarez can only blame his oversized hubris for his own undoing.

A Politiko source claimed that Alvarez had relayed to President Rodrigo Duterte his ambition to be named as Prime Minister under the proposed Federal-Parliamentary system.

The source, a trusted member of Duterte’s inner circle who refused to be named due to the sensitivity of the information, said that during a conversation, Alvarez threatened to play hardball in Congress and delay the administration’s pet bills unless Duterte committed to make him his PM.

The source said Duterte did not take Alvarez’s threats lightly and probably tipped his hand into backing his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who had previously called Alvarez an “asshole” and actively sought for his ouster.

“Kung asshole ka sa (I Congress, don’t bring that to Davao, leave it in Manila. Somebody should tell the President what you are doing. How dare you call me part of the opposition? Kapal ng mukha mo. You messed with the wrong girl,” said Sara in a Face book post after she was informed that Alvarez threatened to impeach her father.

“President iba siya, Speaker ako, I can always impeach him!’ And you call me opposition? Somebody should tell the President about the truth. Antay ka bukas, I have another story…” Sara added.
