Sobrang sikat, ibang level! Imee has no plans to apologize to Igorots: Walang malas na kwarto, tao lang ‘yun
Senator-elect Imee Marcos appears to have no plans of apologizing to Igorots.
The Northern Luzon natives felt slighted after Marcos claimed that she would tap “her Igorots” to perform sacred dance ritual in her new Senate office to drive away the bad spirits brought about by its previous occupant, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
“Sobrang sikat, ibang level,” said an amused Marcos during an interview with DZBB’s Arnold Clavio and Ali Sotto.
Asked why she considered it was bad luck to get Trillanes’ room, Marcos said: “Patawa lang talaga, kalokohan lang.
When Sotto asked if she should apologize to groups who were slighted by her remarks, Marcos said: “Hay naku, wala naman iyon. We call on our IPs (indigenous people) from Ilocos Norte. We always call on them naman to bless , mga imam, pati mga pari, wala namang problema.”
“Pero at end of the day, alam naman natin, hindi naman ‘yung kwarto ang malas, kungdi gawa-gawa na lang ng tao ‘yun,” she added.
The Progressive Igorots for Social Action were quick to criticize Marcos for statement saying “asking the Igorot to dance for a blessing is a mockery of the sanctity of our rituals and traditions.”
