Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco on Tuesday said the last State of the Nation Address (SONA) could be limited like last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Sa tingin ko po it’s going to be the same as last year, iilan lang po ang papayagan natin mag-attend sa SONA for the safety of everyone, and the President of course,” Velasco said.
SONA is held every fourth Monday of July as mandated by the 1987 Constitution.
Last year, Duterte physically went to Batasan Complex in Quezon City to deliver his SONA.
The number of lawmakers and staff members allowed to attend were limited and health protocols were strictly followed.
Even media personalities, except those from the government-owned Radio-TV Malacañang were not allowed inside the Batasan Complex.
