Something wrong with Duterte? Alan Cayetano vows to protect President’s health in slip of tongue
Is something wrong with President Rodrigo Duterte’s health?
Taguig Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano implied that Duterte wasn’t in tip top shape when he appeared as a guest on ANC’s Headstart Monday (July 1).
Asked by broadcaster Karen Davila for his message to Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco, his rival for the speakership, Cayetano said: “I want to tell both Allan Velasco and Wen I’m very sincere and I will protect the health of President Duterte and his administration.”
“So if you are sincere also or sincere in helping the country let’s find the solution let’s work with Martin with Speaker Alvarez and everyone else kasi isang congress lang ito. Pero hindi puwede yung hindi tayo susunod sa Presidente,” he added.
Duterte has admitted to having a string of illnesses related to his previous smoking habit and a motorcycle accident. However, Malacañang has assured that the President is fit ro carry out his duties.
Cayetano insisted that he should be Speaker first under the so-called “Magellan formula” for sharing the speakership with Velasco.
Under the “Magellan formula,” Cayetano will serve as Speaker in the first 15 months of the 18th Congress, to be followed by Velasco in the remaining 21 months.
