Expect major changes in President Duterte’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) as far as content of his speech is concerned, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced Thursday.
For one, there will be a pre-SONA briefings by the so-called economic clusters where the presentation of the administration’s accomplishments in the previous year will be presented as well as their roadmap and future plans, he said.
The pre-SONA briefings will be held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
“That’s to give latitude to say whatever he wants during the SONA because he has already laid out his achievements in the different clusters,” Roque said.
Roque, however, admitted that he still do not have any idea on what will be the content of the speech as he has yet to sit down and discuss with the speechwriters what will be the flow of the third SONA.
“I think they want it to be a message straight from the heart of the President, not hindered by the need to report on the different achievements. So the different achievements will be reported by the different clusters in the different pre-SONA briefings that would be conducted,” he said.
“I know who’s writing the speeches, the speech but I haven’t actually sat down with them. So sabi ko, I need to sit down with you people and find out what exactly you’ll put in the speech because obviously a major change is that there’s now a pre-SONA briefing by different clusters. So intrigue, intrigue. Naiintriga tayo lahat kung ano
sasabihin ng Pangulo,” Roque added.
