‘Sorry’: Duterte OKs filing of raps vs Morales, execs over PhilHealth corruption mess

President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the recommendations of the Task Force PhilHealth to file criminal and administrative charges against former PhilHealth president and CEO Ricardo Morales and several other officials.
Cases will also be slapped on senior vice presidents Jovita Aragona, Renato Limsiaco Jr.. and Israel Francis Pargas; executive vice president and chief operating officer Arnel De Jesus; and senior ICT officer Calixto Gabuya Jr. among others, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
In his address to the nation Monday night, Duterte read the recommendation of the Department of Justice-led task force looking into the alleged rampant corruption in the state insurer.
“I’m sorry for them but they would have to undergo trial. Although they can always prove their guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The presumption of innocence is still attached,” the President said.
“But, the report of another agency says otherwise. So, ganun ho ang nangyari sa PhilHealth, halos lahat sa board,” he added.
