The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team has been crowned the 2020 NBA champion, and some politikos are ecstatic over the victory.
Senate President Tito Sotto joined three other senators in jubilation after Lakers won their 17th NBA title with a 106-93 Game 6 win over the Miami Heat Monday.
Sotto, along with Senators Panfilo Lacson, Ronald dela Rosa and Christoper Go, wore face masks designed with Lakers to celebrate Lakers’ win.
“Congrats Lakers! #LakeShow #NBAFinals,” Lacson captioned the photos shared on Facebook.
The senators, clad in their business suits, took selfies while wearing the special Lakers masks.
Senator Lito Lapid also celebrated Lakers’ NBA championship by sporting a mask with the team logo. A photo of the senator showing his Lakers’ allegiance was posted on Instagram by his son Mark. “Champion tayo pinuno#lakersnation,” the former Pampanga governor wrote on Instagram.
Former Senator JV Ejercito also cheered Lakers’ victory against the Miami Heat, saying the championship is a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant.
“Congrats LA Lakers! This one’s for you Kobe! LBJ and AD dynamic duo carried the Lakers!” he tweeted.
He also commended Miami Heat for their effort despite the loss to the Lakers. “Much respect to the Miami Heat! Talk about HEART!” he said.
