Sotto tells Morales: Read law before filing protest over Del Rosario’s HK detention
Senate President Tito Sotto shot down Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales’ proposal to file charges in connection with Hong Kong’s refusal to allow the entry of former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario.
Sotto cautioned that the Department of Foreign Affairs might lose face if a case is pursued against the HK immigration authorities .
“I suggest you read RA 8239 before thinking of filing any protest. Baka mapahiya ang DFA,” he tweeted.
He was reacting to reports that Morales claimed the filing of diplomatic protest could be on the premise that the Hong Kong Immigration did not honor or respect the diplomatic passport of Del Rosario.
