House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano on Friday told the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) that he would cooperate with law enforcement in running after lawmakers who use, trade or are protectors of illegal drugs.

“Kung meron po gumagamit, and worse, nagbebenta ng droga or protector ng droga sa Kongreso, kasama po ako sa paglilinis ng ating Kongreso,” he said.

“As the president has told us, we will lead by example,” Cayetano said.

The Taguig representative delivered a keynote speech at the 17th anniversary celebration of the PDEA.

In his speech, the House leader defended the government’s drug war, saying those killed by law enforcers were slain because they fought back.

Cayetano said he did not attend the event to seek favors from the drug agency. “I am not here to ask any favor for the Congress,” he said.
