Speaker on evidence against Sereno: ‘Sa tingin ko, sobra sobra’
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said he believes there’s a surplus of evidence against Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno based on the evidence heard thus far in the impeachment proceedings.
“Sa tingin ko sobra sobra,” he said in a press conference when asked if he thought there’s probable cause against Sereno.
Alvarez said there was a “presumption of credibility” in the testimonies of Sereno’s fellow justices, who attended Monday’s hearing and spoke of their grievances against her. They were Associate Justices Francis Jardeleza, Noel Tijam and Teresita de Castro.
“Alam mo, sa tingin ko, yung mga pumunta rito at nag-testigo talaga under oath, may presumption of credibility dahil hindi takot humarap e,” he said.
On the other hand, he scored Sereno for refusing to appear in the hearing. “Hindi katulad ni Chief Justice na takot humarap, ibig sabihin she’s afraid to confront the truth,” he said.
