SSS extends payment deadline because of coronavirus

By Prince Golez

The Social Security System (SSS) said it will extend the payment deadline for contributions and payments amid the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

During the Laging Handa public briefing Monday, SSS president and CEO Aurora Ignacio said that contribution payments from February to April 2020 can be paid until June with no penalty.

Loan payments (e.g. salary, calamity, emergency, and educational loans) for March and April are also extended to May, added Ignacio.

“Kung sakali mag-extend ang ating quarantine period, magdadagdag tayo ng panibagong months na pwede nilang ma-extend pa. Kukuha tayo ng approval para ma extend ang moratorium na ito,” according to her.

On March 16, President Rodrigo Duterte imposed a lockdown on Luzon until April 12 in a bid to curb the coronavirus spread.
