Starting the year out: Sandiganbayan allows Mike Arroyo to travel to Taiwan, Japan

Former first gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo has been allowed by the Sandiganbayan 7th Division to go abroad this January.

The anti-graft court has issued a resolution which granted his motion seeking permission to travel to Taipei, Taiwan and Tokyo, Japan from Jan. 17 to 25.

In granting him travel, the court reminded the husband of former President and to abide with the rules and conditions it has set.

Otherwise, the court warned “any violation of the terms and conditions contained in this resolution shall be sufficient ground for this court to order the forfeiture of his travel bond, as well as to cause the issuance of a warrant of his arrest.”

Arroyo is facing graft charges before the Sandiganbayan concerning his involvement over the alleged anomalous purchase of two helicopters worth P34.6 million made by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in 2009.
