Stay retired, Palace tells ex-DFA chief Del Rosario

Malacañang has shrugged off the suggestion of former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario for President Rodrigo Duterte to attend the US-Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit to be held in Las Vegas this March.
On Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that del Rosario should “stay retired,” saying Duterte does not need advice from someone who lost the West Philippine Sea to China.
“I suggest he stays retired. The President knows what he is doing,” Panelo told reporters.
“(Duterte) does not need advice from those who have failed in their term as government officials especially from the one who lost the West Philippine Sea to the Chinese government,” he added.
Panelo also said he does not see the need for a “special summit” to discuss issues between countries.
