‘Straight outta Iskul Bukol:’ Mean tweets vs Sotto over coronavirus theory

As the new coronavirus spreads, conspiracy theories are spreading faster.

No less than Senate President Tito Sotto played a video insinuating the coronavirus could be a United States-led bioweapon against China during a Senate hearing last Tuesday. But not all netizens were pleased with Sotto for spreading an unverified report while the country battles to contain the spread of the virus.

“Hey @sotto_tito, when you’ve reached the point of showing YouTube conspiracy videos as ‘evidence’ in the Senate, maybe it’s time to retire,” @TheKilaTrillana tweeted.

@thejourneymate commented: It seems that Tito Sotto epitomizes the Dunning-Kruger Effect and that he looks totally clueless of his foolery to present a sci-fi video in front of the esteemed healthcare experts. That scene is straight from Iskul Bukol!”

@DanSAntos8 tweeted: “The Senate President playing a video that is not from a verified source. All the effort against fake news just went down the drain.”

“You know that kabobohan just happened when Tito Sotto is trending on Twitter,” @kw33n_k4y said.
