Subukan lang nila! PH won’t be bullied with Locsin as DFA chief- Sotto, Win Gatchalian
The Philippines “cannot be bullied” by anyone with Ambassador Teddy boy Locsin as Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Senate President Vicente Sotto 3rd stressed this on Friday following President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to appoint Locsin as the new DFA chief to replace Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.
The President has granted the request of Cayetano to run as congressman in Taguig City in the 2019 midterm polls supposedly to help push Mr. Duterte’ legislative agenda.
Asked to comment on the President’s move to appoint Locsin as Cayetano’s replacement, Sotto said, “One of the best appointments ever. Excellent choice.”
“TeddyBoy Locsin although a fighter, I know, will always square his actions and circumscribe his passions within due bounds!” Sotto added.
Senator Win Gatchalian also said that Locsin “is an excellent choice” to replace Cayetano as DFA secretary.
“Ambassador Locsin has a good track record in public service, including his current stint as Philippine Ambassador to the United Nations–one of our country’s most prestigious and demanding diplomatic postings,” he said.
“Anyone with a Twitter account knows that Ambassador Locsin does not mince words,” Gatchalian said.
He said that Locsin “speaks his mind passionately and tells it like it is, even if it’s something that many people might not want to hear.”
“His character is well suited for the messy arena of international relations, where diplomatic double-talk often gets in the way of achieving real progress among the international community of nations,” he said.
“I am hoping that Ambassador Locsin will be able to cut through the diplomatic double-talk in order to foster deeper, more meaningful ties with our allies and further advance Philippine interests across the globe,” he added.
