Sulu cops given 10 days to submit counter affidavits to NBI over soldiers’ slay
Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento said summons have been issued Monday (Aug. 3) to the policemen tagged in the killing of four soldiers in Jolo, Sulu.
In the summons, Macontento said all the policemen were given “10 days to submit counter-affidavits.”
“No need for actual appearance,” Malcontento said.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed the complaint before the Department of Justice (DOJ) last July 21 after having conducted an investigation over the June 29 shooting in Jolo where four soldiers were killed.
In its complaint, the NBI accused nine policemen of murder and planting of evidence, namely, Senior Master Sergeant Abdelzhimar Padjiri; Master Sergeant Hanie Baddiri; Staff Sergeant Iskandar Susulan; Staff Sergeant Ernisar Sappal; Corporal Sulki Andaki; Patrolman Moh. Nur Pasani; Staff Sergeant Almudzrin Hadjaruddin; and Patrolmen Alkajal Mandangan and Rajiv Putalan.
The NBI also accused Sulu Provincial Police Office chief Colonel Michael Bawayan Jr.,Jolo Municipal Police Station chief Major Walter Annayo, and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit chief Captain Ariel Corcino of neglect of duty.
