Davao-based party-list groups are expected to forge an alliance with the National Unity Party (NUP) next week.

Among the party-list organizations that are set to coalesce with NUP are Marino and ACT-CIS which currently have five seats in total in the House of Representatives.

NUP President and Capiz Rep. Fredenil Castro said the move of the party-list groups are already expected following reports over the upcoming oath taking of Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte as member of NUP next Tuesday, August 6.

Marino Party-list is currently represented by its first nominee, Rep. Carlo Lisandro Gonzales while its second seat is currently vacant following last week’s resignation of Rep. Anton Lopez.

ACT-CIS meanwhile bagged three seats during last May’s mid-term polls and their nominees include Reps. Eric Go Yap, Niña Taduran and Jocelyn Tulfo.

Many political observers believed that NUP “has hit the jackpot” with the entry of blue-chip recruit like the President’s eldest kin.

Aside from Duterte, the two other congressmen who are set to join NUP include San Jose del Monte City Rep. Rida Robes and Parañaque City Rep. Joy Myra Tambunting.
