Even the United States sees a big leadership potential in Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

The presidential daughter has been chosen as one of the Filipino politikos who will participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) funded by the US State Department.

US Deputy Chief of Mission John Law shared a photo of Duterte with other IVLP participants in a tweet posted Friday (January 10), tagging the US State Department Bureau of Counterterrorism (@StateDeptCT).

“Privileged to welcome to Embassy @StateIVLP participants: @davaocitygov Mayor @indaysara, Task Force Davao Commander Consolito Yecla, @zambocitygovt Mayor @Beng_Climaco, and Chief of Staff Mike Saavedra. #USPHExchanges #FriendsPartnersAllies @StateDeptCT,” Law tweeted.

Other details about the exchange program and Duterte’s participation were not yet available as of posting time.

Participants, however, usually spend up to a month in the US.

According to the US State Department’s website, IVLP participants are nominated and selected annually by the staff at US Embassies around the world.

Duterte has been floated as a possible presidential contender in the 2022 elections.
