Sure win! Revilla’s acquittal to boost senatorial bid, Romualdez says

The Lakas Christian-Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) is looking forward to former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.’s victory in the upcoming senatorial elections following the Sandiganbayan’s decision acquitting him of plunder.
Lakas-CMD President and former Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said the not guilty verdict on Revilla would “give a big boost to his senatorial bid.”
“With the people and God’s help, the Lakas-CMD is looking forward to his victory in next year’s midterm poll,” he said.
Revilla is eyeing a Senate comeback in the 2019 midterm elections.
Romualdez said Revilla’s acquittal only proves that the plunder case against him was ” politically motivated” which “took away more than four years of his life.”
“I am really grateful that Sen. Bong, our party chairman, was acquitted after a very stressful trial… the verdict is a timely justice to Sen. Bong, a victim of political persecution by the previous administration,” he said.
During Friday’s promulgation, the anti-graft court said government prosecutors from the Office of the Ombudsman failed to prove Revilla’s “guilt beyond reasonable doubt.”
Meanwhile, the special panel has convicted pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles and Revilla’s former chief-of-staff, Richard Cambe. They were both sentenced to suffer the penalty of Reclusion Perpetua of imprisonment up to 40-years.
