Kane Errol Choa, head of ABS-CBN corporate communications, was quick to debunk the 96-year old lawmaker’s declaration that most Filipinos depended on radio for their news, just like they did during the pre-People Power years.

“Former Sen. Enrile says radio is the leading source of news among Filipinos. SWS 2019 survey says only 15% or 9.7 M Filipinos consume news by listening to radio. TV is the top source with 60% of Filipinos or 40M individuals getting news through it.,” said Choa on Twitter.

During the Senate hearing on ABS-CBN’s franchise, Enrile said: “Ano ba ang urgency ng prangkisa na ibibigay sa ABS CBN? Dahil kailangan malaman ng ating mga kababayan ang nangyayari sa bansa? My god. The nooks and corners of this Republic are reached not by television but by radio. Our people know what’s going on.”
