House Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco is open to making his rival, ousted Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, a Deputy Speaker following their bitter fight over the speakership.
Velasco told reporters Friday (October 16) that Cayetano could also chair a House committee.
“He can choose either a committee chairmanship or a deputy speaker position,” the Speaker said.
Velasco said he believes Cayetano deserves to be Deputy Speaker at the very least, having led the House for the past 15 months.
He, however, admitted he has yet to offer a leadership post to Cayetano as the House has been preoccupied with passing the proposed P4.5-trillion national budget in the past few days.
“During recess, I will communicate that to former speaker Cayetano,” Velasco said.
