Tapunan ng basura!De Lima slams NBI for allowing witnesses vs. her to return to oldposts
Senator Leila De Lima has slammed the National Bureau of Investigation for reinstating two of its former officials who are testifying against her over drug related charges.
Politiko reported that former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) officer-in-charge Rafael Ragos is set to return as NBI Deputy Director while NBI Deputy Director Reynaldo Esmeralda has been reinstated to his old post.
“Esmeralda, like Ragos, is set to be reinstated to his former post as NBI Deputy Director. Reward na naman! Kawawang NBI. Nagiging tapunan ng mga basura, rats of the institution,” De Lima said.
Ragos was initially tagged as De Lima’s co-accused in one of the three charges filed by the government. He was later removed from the charge sheet after he agreed to testify against De Lima.
Esmeralda, meanwhile, testified in court on December 6 to corroborate the testimonies of other witnesses that money from drug lords inside the New Bilibid Prison was delivered to her through her former aide, Ronnie Dayan.
De Lima is facing criminal charges over her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade when she was Justice Secretary under the Aquino administration.
