The signing of the Telecommuting Act into law will help relieve traffic congestion in key cities across the country, Malacañang said.

Republic Act No. (RA) 11165 or the Telecommuting Act, which allows an employee in the private sector to work from home, was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte last December 20, 2018.

“With its full implementation, we are optimistic that this arrangement can also contribute in easing the traffic conditions in Metro Manila and in other urban areas,” said Duterte’s spokesperson Salvador Panelo.

In his statement to reporters Friday, Panelo said the passage of this landmark legislation was a recognition of an emerging and innovative Filipino workforce.

“Times are changing and we have seen how the government responds and adapts to different work environments,” added the official.
