MAMBAJAO, Camiguin – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) has concluded its campaign caravan for the 13 senatorial candidates two weeks ahead of the midterm elections.
On Monday, the Davao City mayor’s influential political entity made its last campaign in Mambajao, Camiguin after 68 proclamation rallies in various parts of the country.
Mayor Duterte explained that they decided to finish the campaign caravan of HNP 14 days before election day so that the candidates can utilize the remaining days to return in areas which they think they were trailing behind.
The Presidential daughter admitted that she really did intend to put the Camigiun sortie of HNP on the last day of their schedule, upon the instructions of his father President Rodrigo Duterte who had a nasty experience in the island province during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Mayor Duterte during last Monday’s event in Mambajao can’t hide her displeasure with the ruling Romualdo clan in the province who allegedly attempted to sabotage her father’s campaign caravan and harassed their supporters when they first visited the province back in March 2016.
According to Mayor Duterte, the chief executive told her to return to island province to thank his supporters despite the being threatened by the provincial local government of Camiguin which is then under former Governor and now Mambajao town Mayor Jurdin Jesus “JJ” Romualdo.
“Nagpapasalmat ako sa ginugol ninyong oras, sa kabila ng mga pananakot sa inyong pagpunta. Pero sa kabila ng panankot, ipinakita ninyo pa din ang inyong suporta sa administration ni President Duterte,” said the Presidential daughter.
